Ferroptosis and Necroptosis in Stroke
Dr. Marietta Zille from University of Luebeck, Institute for Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology, Germany, will join the Paris Redox 2020 Congress and will give a presentation entitled "Ferroptosis and Necroptosis in Stroke" during the symposium dedicated to Ferroptosis.
Dr. Zille highlights: Ferroptosis and necroptosis are two non-apoptotic subroutines of regulated cell death shown to be implicated in a number of neurological diseases including ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. Here, we present that they can occur concomitantly in the same cell type and that different brain cells and cellular compartments present different modes to die or to degenerate. This suggests that multi-modal therapeutic approaches may be needed to effectively treat patients with stroke, potentially, other neurological diseases.
