Red Blood Cells as a "Central Hub" for Sulfide Bioactivity: Scavenging, Metabolism, Transport, and Cross-Talk with Nitric Oxide
Prof. Miriam Margherita Cortese-Krott from Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, Germany will present a major talk entitled "Red Blood Cells as a "Central Hub" for Sulfide Bioactivity: Scavenging, Metabolism, Transport, and Cross-Talk with Nitric Oxide".
Besides their role as oxygen carriers, Prof. Margherita confirms that red blood cells have been recently demonstrated to participate in systemic NO and sulfide metabolism and can be a potent circulating antioxidant cell. This talk will summarize recent evidence analysing the reactive species interactome in RBCs and how this may affect the cardiovascular system.
