Oxidative stress and inflammation in liver diseases: state of the issue and promising leads
Dr. Patrick Gonzalez will give a presebtation entitled "Oxidative stress and inflammation in liver diseases: state of the issue and promising leads".
During Paris Redox 2019 Congress, Dr. Patrick Gonzalez from Inserm, Paul-Brousse University Hospital, France will present his study.
Short Summary of talk: "Despite evidence that oxidative stress plays a role in liver diseases and has positive effects on liver diseases in animals, the outcome of therapeutic approaches based on anti-oxidants remain disappointing.
To cast light on this difficult issue, we shall present an overview of the relationships between oxidative stress and liver diseases with a focus on the so far underestimated implication of the oxidation of the extracellular matrix (ECM) in liver diseases. Our recent findings on the antioxidant activity of the anti-inflammatory C-type lectin REG3 will illustrate the fact that a targeted prevention of oxidative damages to the ECM can contribute to hepatoprotection in both animals and humans".
